Alireza Kheyri In prison

Alireza Kheyri is a resident of Tehran who was sentenced to prison for his activities on Telegram messenger. At the time of his arrest, Kheyri was an associate student of architecture at the Parand branch of Azad University.

He was first arrested by security agents in Tehran on January 19, 2020. His case was taken up by security agents of Revolutionary Guards and he was transferred to one of the Revolutionary Guards detention centers in Tehran.

After seven days of interrogations, Kheyri was transferred to the general ward of Evin Prison. He was eventually released on bail of 200 million tomans until the end of the trial.

A hearing on Kheyri's charges was held in Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran in March 2020. He was sentenced to five years in prison by Judge Iman Afshari on charges of "conspiracy against the security of the country," which was proved by his membership in an anti-regime Telegram group.

Kheyri’s sentence was reduced to two years imprisonment in May 2020 by Branch 36 of the Tehran Court of Appeals.
Following a summons by the Enforcement Department, Kheyri was transferred to the Greater Tehran Prison (Fashafoyeh) on September 6, 2020.
