17 Foreign Media Received Temporary Work Permit in Iran

17 foreign media and TV outlets have received a temporary work permit in Iran this month.

The list was published yesterday after it was announced that some journalists from the BBC had been allowed to report in Iran for a week.

Foreign media was accused by the Iranian authorities of inciting the unrest that followed the disputed 2009 presidential election in Iran, and heavy restrictions have since been placed on the BBC and other foreign news organizations.

According to the Foreign Media Department of The Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance in Iran, 141 international media have permanent offices in Iran. Any other foreign media must request a temporary license to work in the country.

The 17 foreign media receiving a temporary license this month include:

The Jewish Daily Forward (US) for 20 days
Arte TV (France) for a week
Science Magazine (US) for a week
Channel 1 (France) for 3 days
Le Monde (France) for 4 days
Radio France Culture (France) for a week
Global Post (US) for 3 days
iTele (France) for a week
BFM TV (France) for 3 days
Channel 2 (France) for 3 days
Channel 3 (France) for 2 days
L'Humanité (France) for a week
Radio RTL (France) for 3 days
Channel 1 (US) for a week
Radio Europe 1 (France) for a month
Rai TV (Italy) for 3 days
BBC (UK) for a week
