Ahmadreza Yousefi Released

Journalist Ahmadreza Yousefi was arrested in 2010 on the charge of espionage-related activities.

Yousefi is the former executive deputy of the Iranian Students’ News Agency. he was arrested at the airport, when preparing to leave the country to pursue higher education. Judge Salavati sentenced him to two years in prison and three years on probation. Yousefi was released from prison in June 2012 after serving his sentence.

During four months of detainment in Section 209 of Evin Prison, Yousefi was only interrogated twice. Like many others arrested in the aftermath of the 2009 presidential election, his case had been fabricated by security agencies. Judge Salavati sentenced him to two years in prison and three years on probation at the 15th division of the Islamic Revolutionary Court. Yousefi was released from prison in June 2012 after serving his sentence.

Yousefi was the executive deputy of ISNA from 2002 to 2005. From 2005 he continued his cooperation with the ISNA as a part-time executive deputy and the editor in chief of the international department of the agency. He also worked with the ILNA during these years.

During the time at the ISNA, he was the deputy of Abolfazl Fateh, the communication director of Mirhossein Mousavi’s presidential campaign and the general manager of the ISNA.
